scream!

After using a DOS based bar code program and a really old - bought at auction - thermal transfer printer to bar code labels for years, the printer bit the dust...so, we had to buy a new printer...which also required new software, go figure!

Being as this is not really something I have time for, and not being too difficult now that it's up to date, I decided to move it to my secretary's domain. I can't use my knee yet, so she was in charge of unhooking the system and moving it to her office.

Install new software on her drive, transfer the labels from my hard drive to hers...install the printer...go to print - no go. Cancel printing, uninstall printer, reinstall printer (Which requires logging in and out multiple times as she does not have system rights)..fiddle with settings, etc for over an hour - still not printing. Run troubleshooter - it can't figure out what's wrong...go back to my office to check on the board here because I need a break - when it hits me!

"Cin - I know this is dumb, but did you check to see if the cable is installed tightly to your computer?"

"oh, was I supposed to hook that up too?"

I WILL NOT SCREAM I WILL NOT SCREAM I WILL NOT SCREAM!!!

You should be happy. At least now you know what kind of person you're dealing with. Sometimes people can fool you for years before you realize they have the common sense of a goat.

The very first question I ask when anyone tells me something is not working is...

Me: "is everything plugged in where it's supposed to be?"
Them: "yes"
M: "did you check?"
T: "no"
M: "go check"
T: "oh... found it... I could SWEAR I checked it"
M: "mmmhmmm... anything else?"
