GRRRR! I could SO not be a realtor if I had to be pushy.

OMG...Ron & I were out a few weeks ago and were calling about various "for sale by owner" houses we saw (because we were kind of working with a realtor, so I didn't want to call about any that were listed. There was one in particular that I called about, got the basic info, thanked the guy and he said he was a realtor and started asking questions. I told him we were working with a realtor and that we would be in touch with her if we wanted to see the house. No big deal, right?

Oh hell no! This guy calls me back about half an hour later and wants to know if we'd like to see a different house that he had listed. He was doing an open house and this house was "just what we were looking for". I told him no thank you and hung up. He freakin' called me back again! I didn't answer, so he left the address on my voice mail. (We drove past the house for the hell of it, and it was ugly.)

Fast forward to today.....remember this was like 3 weeks ago. He just called me again! He asked if I remember him and I said yes I do and we are still working with the same agent. He wanted to know who she was. I told him he was very pushy and that I was offended. (If I'd been in my car and not at my desk I'd probably have told him to f** off.) I told him not to call me again.

GRRRR! What a jerk! I don't know that I'd ever use Coldwell-Banker after that!

Its a tough market out there.

I hated that part of house hunting. I still have people calling me. Its been a year.
G
I never had that problem at all. That stinks I would be mad.
You gave out your real phone number? Oh my. You may as well invite him over for Christmas; he's never going away.

Everybody needs to have a fake phone number at the ready. I've been using the same one for years so I don't look like I'm lying when I use it.
I would have been mad too and your agent should be fuming. We didn't have that problem when we were looking but probably because everything went through our agent. She was refered by a good friend who was good friends with her so she was awesome to work with and got us in to look at any place we wanted by the next day.

The poor realtors are hurting and sounds like they wil do anything. I can not believe he called you that many times. Are you selling a house here in J-Ville?

Funny you wrote that. One guy was pretty pushy. So when he asked for my number I gave it to him, but switched the last number. He called back. Took the number off the caller ID.

Oh another thing, if you are on the DO NOT CALL LIST, and he is calling you, you can turn him in. Every realtor has to do their research to find out who is on the list and who isnt.
Don't blame Coldwell Banker; he's acting on his own. Probably hungry and will do anything for a sale right now. RE is at a low and realtors are in the poor house right now. ;)

Realtors are the number one people in foreclosure right now. They went out and bought BIG EXPENSIIVE houses when it was rocking and now they cant make their mortgage payments. Or car payments. Its really getting sad. I am so happy Cody is not in it full time.
G
i would have called the office he was out of and gave them an earfull. Word of mouth is very big in that business. I would make sure they knew I would bad mouth them every where I went.
Wow- what a pain. I can't believe he was that pushy! Good for you for telling him you were offended.

Didn't exactly give it out - he got it from his caller i.d. I called from my cell because we were out driving around. You can't *67 from a cell like you can from a land line.
G
I don't know about the phone you have (cell). But You can *67. Just figured that out.
I have found it very useful to have our own realtor. Our realtor was a friend and acted as a buffer. We had told her what we were looking for and were not interested in every friggin house that didn't meet our requirements. We weren't in a big hurry at the time and she was very patient in our search. We eventually bought, she made her commision and our house hunting headaches were minimal.
