Gracie is almost 7 mo. old, she was spay at about 6 mo. , she likes to start humping me or the couch pillow when she plays fetch w her toys. Why do female spay dogs do this? I think my old Casey did it as a pup to...but not as enthusiastically as Gracie does.

don't know, but I'd try to stop that behavior if possible.

Zoe's friend was spayed
Tasha will hump anything and everything pillow/bed like the size of 12" or more.

She humps Zoe's toys, her bed, even jumps on our sofa to hump the pillows.

They thought it was *funny* in the beginning, now it's an ongoing behavior, and if she humps long enough, she will spray urine.

Tasha is now 7, and is still doing this

Again, please try to stop this behavior ASAP.

just my opinion

I doubt gracie is trying to assert dominance over the sofa or a pillow. Stop and redirect to a more palatable activity, you're on the right track

Yes try and stop it. I adopted Sir Ernest Humpalot when he was 3 and nothing I do stops him. Even putting him outside for an hour...he comes in and has his wicked way with the couch chewing the cushions in the process.

Nancy (Kaytris) I think is spot on why they do it.
