I was talking to someone and they mentioned that my puppy (16w) looks like a dudley. How would I know if she is? her name is Nittany

Re: How do I know if my yellow lab is a dudley?

I'm no expert, but my yellow puppy has her black pigment (nose, lips, eyes) already at 12 weeks. Your baby does look like a dudley to me - which only makes her cuter! I love duds!

Yep. The pup doesn't have pigment on its nose, eye rims or lips. Plus the eye color.

At least one parent was chocolate or carried chocolate.

I see a lot of mischief in those eyes, you better watch her close!

Great looking Lab, she looks so happy.

Yes she is a dudley. Dudley's are dogs without pigment on the eyelids and nose. It is a genetic fault like albinoism is in people but not quite a true albinoism. The AKC considers this a disqualifying fault so she has no show career in confirmation. She is still able to compete in anyother AKC event obedience, rally, hunting, agility etc. I haven't heard (hopefully you can ask your vet) but you might need to watch for sunburned nose if she spends alot of time in the sun?
She is a great looking pup.
