I hit the out gate at the showring once- with my head. Coming off at a run. If I hadn't had my helmet on I'da been toast.

I admit, I don't wear it around the Minis, but I did buy a brand new helmet for when we do the CDEs and pleasure drives.

Good reminder :)

Mine saved my life when I was bucked off and landed head first.

And don't forget if you fall or are kicked, your helmet needs to be replaced! They are not made to protect against multiple falls. Many companies offer discounted replacements.

Yes! Charles Owen helmets will give you half the value towards a new one (which is good, because a child's helmet is almost $200). Excellent incentive to replace them right away.

Cowboys didn't wear helments.

I find it's a **** pain to wear a helmet when biking around the driveway, MJ says I have to to show Char it's important. (she's 3)

I just tell her she has to wear hers and I don't have to wear one because when you get older your head gets so hard you don't need one.

(I hope I remember to tell her that's not true before she goes off to college.)

I have been snowskiing most of my life and never wore a helmet. A few years back I purchased a helmet (because it had built in headphones) I've had some pretty nasty spills and when I look at the marks, scrapes and gouges in the helmet I can just imagine how that would of scrambled my gourd without it.

I have only 2 brain cells and one is waving bye bye to the other. I need to protect that.

There are plenty of things we do today that we didn't do "back in the day", either because we didn't know better, or didn't have the technology. You think cowboys didn't ever die from head injuries?

Bad example to set for the little ones. They emulate us. You want her to wear her helmet, YOU wear your helmet.

It scares me when I see people on motorcycles w/o them!!!
That's just stupid. helmets are the law here. It really shouldn't have to be, though. I laugh my ass off when I see a biker in leathers with no helmet. So, you want to protect your skin...

Imagine, tooling down the highway at about 100km/h on your motrocycle. An oncoming car crosses the centre line at hits you. He was also doing 100km/h. What chance do you think you have of survival without a helmet?

Maybe some people just don't have anything worth living for?

I guess you don't need a brain bucket if you don't have a brain:p:D

When I ask my friends who do that.....why?....they just shrug. They know better.....I think they just figure it won't be them.

I mean why do people eat crappy food......drive fast in cars.......drink alcohol.....do drugs......not exercise........not go to the doctors for check-ups........eat too much.......
