Monday night update:
I came online a while ago to see if I could check a few things. I heard Buddy summon me from the igloo. It's funny how after a few years you can 'read' their facial expressions and 'hear' what they say by the tone of the sounds they make. He wanted to go out again. He dragged himself out of the igloo and I helped him get up onto 3 legs. He didn't want me to use the towel. He let me know that right away! So the very second I dropped it to the floor, he hopped outside and did another long pee and a rather large poop. He hopped back in and rested again on the same rug in that room. Just then the phone rang. It was the orthpedic surgeon. He remembered me. Sometimes I wonder if that's a good thing. Anyway, he told me to take Buddy to the regular vet's early tomorrow and have them confirm that it is indeed his leg. He said from what I described, it sure sounds like it is. He squeezed us into his schedule for Thursday afternoon. I feel better just having spoken to him. Now I just have to figure out how to get him in and out of the car.
Thank you all ever so much. I'll post again when I know more.

Monday afternoon update:
First I want to thank each and every one of you for your good wishes and prayers. Buddy and I are totally overwhelmed by all the messages and comments we've received and they are still coming in.
He's really in bad shape. He can't seem to move his back end at all.
My vet's partner called and told me my vet is away this entire week. Seems the chiropractic vet is also away and the ortho-surgeon too. Figures. We've left messages for the surgeon hoping to get him to take a look at Buddy asap. The partner vet was really concerned when I said he hadn't relieved himself since yesterday afternoon around 3-4 PM. She asked me if he was panting and he was. She told me in no uncertain terms we HAD to get him outside. It wasn't easy but 2 of us slid a huge bath towel under him and more or less got his back end up off the floor and slid the rest of him out to the yard. The very second his paws touched the grass he peed - and peed and peed. He balanced himself on 3 legs and managed to poop. Just as he finished, he started to fall over but I stopped his fall. He balanced himself again and hopped into the house and laid down on the small area carpet near the door. He let out a huge sigh.
I brought him a pillow and a water bowl and hoped he'd stay there since it would be much easier for the next trip outside. No such luck. As soon as he was able, he literally dragged himself into the living room and got into his doggie igloo which is permanently housed in that room.
So that's where he is for now. Can't do much else until 7am tomorrow when the regular vet's office tries to reach the surgeon and see when he can examine Buddy. He travels from vet office to vet office to do surgeries so it's going to be very difficult to even get him on the phone. I want to use him cause he did the other leg and it's been almost 2 years and absolutely no problems with it.
So for now, there isn't much else to do except try to keep him comfortable and give him his pain meds. The next hurdle is trying to figure out how to get him in the car so we can get xrays done.
Keep praying for some kind of miracle. He was nowhere near this bad when the other leg got hurt.
Thank you all very much again.
This is the absolute worst he has ever been! He is still where he was yesterday afternoon. Hasn't peed since about 3pm Sunday!! He ate dinner last night and breakfast I brought to him on his bed. He made no attempt to get up today. He tried a few times last night and refused any assistance. He backed himself under the TV table trying to get to a sitting position on his bed at around 2am. We had to literally lift him back onto his bed. He must have exhausted himself cause he went to sleep right after that. I can't believe how long he has been holding his urine. I have to wait another 15 minutes to see if anyone will be at the vet's office but I doubt it. It's going to be a long 24 hours until they are there. Both specialists and the regular vet are closed this weekend. Why is it things like this always happen on a holiday? Last time I took him to an unfamiliar emergency vet, they nearly killed him. Thanks for all your prayers..... I know that's how we are coping.
