I'm hoping someone has some advice for me as I'm at my wits end. Wiki my 5 yo male has been throwing up for quite awhile. Let me give you a little background. He is my problem child with all kinds of problems, most of which we have learned to deal with. He has HD, arthritis in his front legs skin issues and most recent stomach issues. Because of his arthritis he has been on previcox for about 3 years now, never had a problem. About 2 months ago he started throwing up undigested food every few days. It progressed to daily so I took him to the vet. He ran some tests all of which came back normal much to the surprise of the Dr. considering how long he has been on the previcox. He thought it was stomach irritation from the meds so he put him on doggie prilosec. It helped somewhat but didn't stop the problem. It was suggested to me to try some yogurt with his meals so I tried that and again it helped but didn't stop it. I then started adding a powdered form of enzymes and probiotics to his food with wonderful results. He would throw up maybe once every 2 weeks.
The only store that carried it ran out and I had to order online so he went without it for about 3 weeks. well he is back to throwing up daily with no help from either the enzymes or yogurt. I have been feeding him rice and boiled hamburger but even that is coming up. He has energy, his stools are normal he is drinking water. I have thought about switching food and trying the prescription diet for sensitive stomachs, right now he eats "Barking at the Moon".
I am wondering if taking him of the previcox will help but then I worry about his pain. Is there anything I should have the vet check for?
I should say I have stopped giving him the doggie prilosec. I really didn't see much results with it.
Any advice would be much appreciated. I adore this dog and worry about him
Thanks and Aloha
