I'm Sam's Mom.
Sam is a rescue from our local SPCA. She was 14 months and mouthy when we rescued her. Sam had been returned twice because of her high energy and supposed destructive tendencies.
Sam has destroyed one shoe and a picture frame (it was on the floor) which isn't much for a dog entering a new home.
Sam(antha) responded well to her name, so we kept it as she'd already had so many changes in her life. In a year and a half she has calmed down considerably and stopped mouthing. She loves swimming, running and rawhide. Her favourite game is tug of war.
We used to crate her when we first got her, but now she can be left on her own. Her biggest lure is food. She knows all the names of all the meals in a day and will turn in excited circles when the word "food" is mentioned. If there are (dog) cookies around she will do pretty much anything for you. We're vegetarians so she gets a lot of vegetables which cause her doggie friends to look at her funny. She loves stocks of brocoli, carrots and even tofu. (Her dog food has meat and usually so do her dog treats).
She will bring you a toy if you ask her and she loves extracting the squeakers out of stuffed toys.
