Vet wasn't going to refill Flynn's pheno unless she ran the titer, a fairly expensive test. Flynn had a full blood panel in January, liver perfect. She also put him on thyroid med at that time and within a couple of weeks I took him off. He has NO reason to be on thyroid meds.

Tonight, on the phone, I just talked with her. "I may be a lay person, Wendy, but I know this dog. I know he's been on this dose of pheno before (2 years) and it proved fine for him. Yes, I took him off the thyroid meds... he has never shown ANY indication of need for it. He is healthy, active (ACTIVE), glorious coat, normal eating, normal sleeping, normal play, normal water consumption..." She listened. She listened well.

I went on and on like an encyclopedia. She agreed to refill the pheno for 1 year. I agreed to have the titers run in 1 year. We verbally shook hands over the deal.

Three minutes later she called me back. "Miss Nancy, (really... "Miss Nancy") do you have the prescription number for Flynn's pheno? And does it say how many tablets?" I shuddered that she hadn't checked their own database and thanked God all at the same time.

So, the lesson for me? SPEAK UP! Know what you are talking about and DON'T BE AFRAID TO SAY SO!

Whewwww! I'm sure getting full of myself these day, aren't I!

That's all.

How long have you been going to this vet, Miss Nancy? :)D) I'm a bit disturbed that she had him on thyroid meds that he didn't need to be on, and even more so that she had to ask YOU the script # and the dosage. Yikes.

So.........GOOD FOR YOU for speaking up!! :)
