So I saw my first "Red Fox Lab" yesterday. Her name was ginger and she was gorgeous. I told the lady that I also had a yellow lab, she was said "oh no hon this is a red fox lab, they are very hard to find." ::) Ginger was a very red color, very pretty lab.

They are pretty but sounds like she got a puppy mill dog and paid for it :( I hope the dog is happy and healthy.
She looked healthy. She was 3 years old and she def. had a lab personality. She was very friendly, kissed me to death and her tail never stopped wagging.

Wait, I thought Fox Red was legit? I know it's a very dark/off shade for yellow, but aren't they still referred to as Fox Reds?
Yes..but they aren't RARE...and they are a shade of yellow.

This is the litter I am getting my yellow girl from ;D. You can see the variations of color within the litter. I was hoping the dark yellow was a girl...unfortunately that is not the case, the yellow girls are the one with the purple collar and the uncollared one furthest to the right by mama's hind leg. They are only about 4 hours old in this picture. Dad is coal black.

"Oh sheesh, you have to use an example from a puppy mill?

While not rare, they aren't common either.
As Laura mentioned, you can read all about the fox red shade of yellow on our web site:

I certainly is not a common shade but not what I would call extremely rare either. If anyone is interested, this is a litter of our all fox red puppies a couple of weeks before they went to their new homes:

That's interesting - I have one "red fox lab" at the end of and across from my street, and another on the cul-de-sac one block over from me. The latter is called Lilly and plays with Rocket sometimes.

At least their owners know they are really yellow labs.

Refer that lady to the AKC site on labrador retrievers. That will explain it to her.

Hi All:

Meet Marlan, my Fox-red Labrador. He is not from a puppy mill!!! Actually, I got him from a reputable breeder. He is most definitely a labrador (and a gorgeous one at that) with one of the most beautiful temperaments I have ever seen. I love him with all of my heart!

Rest assured, I know he is technically YELLOW and is registered as such!

Why is this forum all about judging and making others feel bad about themselves and their dogs? It is not very welcoming for new people!!! I thought we were all supposed to be lab lovers?
