Bess's was Bessie Mae Poocho (sometimes sung to the tune of "Besame Mucho")
ROFL! We're not the only ones that sing our dogs names to a popular tune?!?!?!? LOL~

We sing that song "Oh Mickey what a pity, you don't understand...you take my the heart when you take me by the hand" by Toni Basil. I've sung the whole song while dancing around and getting Mickey so nuttered up that he ends up going sailing through the house in a while butt-tuck. Yeah, we're pretty much nuts here.

Does anyone else do that; either sing your dog's name (Like 'Layla' for example) in a pop song, or rhyme your dog's name with a name (etc) being sung in a song?

Yup!! :D

Our favourite (thanks to Linda, zoesmom), sung to the tune of Henry the Eighth (Herman's Hermits)

I'm Henery the First, I am!
Henery the First I am I am!
I belong to my Mommy, hear me roar!
She's never had a fur-kid before!
She's never had a Henery!
She wouldn't have a Willy or a Sam
I'm her first fur-kid, I'm Henery!
I'm Henery the First, I am!

Second verse, same as the first!

H-E-N-E-R-Y!
Henery! Henery!
Henery! Henery!
Henery the First I am I am!
Henery the First I am!

Yeah!

I sing the Beatle's Dear Prudence to Prudence of course:

Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play
Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day
The sun is up, the sky is blue
It's beautiful and so are you
Dear Prudence won't you come out to play

Dear Prudence open up your eyes
Dear Prudence see the sunny skies
The wind is low the birds will sing
that you are part of everything
Dear Prudence won't you open up your eyes?

Dear Prudence let me see you smile
Dear Prudence like a little child
The clouds will be a daisy chain
So let me see you smile again
Dear Prudence won't you let me see you smile?

I also replace "sunshine" from You Are My Sunshine with either Briggy (Brigetta has too many sylables ;))
or Prudence's name.
The first time I sang to Brigetta she just stared at me and kept doing head tilts. Now she just ignores me...I don't think she likes my singing voice!

LOLOL! These are great! I know it's not just lab people either, because Layla the Golden that plays in our playdate group has a Momma who'll break out into a verse right in front of God and creation! I can't see that dog now without humming that tune!

Dig that hole Troopie, dig that hole
Dig that hole Troopir, dig it

Troopie in the water with bumpers

I do that all the time, even when we drive, which I must look crazy because I will just turn to Murphy and sing. Sometimes I will just go with the tune of the song replace most of the words with Murphy. one song I sing to him thought is Lou Dog Went to the moon. its a cover by sublime, I never heard the original: Lassie Went to the Moon. The lead singer of sublime covered this song after his dalmation Lou dissapeared for a week.

Lou Dog Went To The Moon Lyrics

My little dog, ran away the other day
yea yea, yea yea, yea yea,yea yea.

I cant believe my little dog Lou Dog, ran away
yea yea, yea yea, yea yea, yea yea

He packed his bags, got into a hotair ballon
yea yea, yea yea, yea yea, yea yea

And then my little dog, Lou Dog,
Sailed off to the moon
yea yea, yea yea, yea yea, yea yea

THE DAY! THE DAY!

That was the day that, Lou Dog, Went to the moon.

I sing "BOOM Shake shake shake the room. BOOM Shake shake shake the room. Tick tick tick tick BOOM " :D Good old 90's rap.

Also, when he's stretched out in the sunshine, I curl up and lay my head on him and sing "And they call it puppy looooove..."

Um... Finley's a bit of a wuss so we sing his name in part of Monty Python's Ballad of Brave Sir Robin.

Brave Sir Finley ran away.
("No!")
Bravely ran away away.
("I didn't!")
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
("no!")
Yes, brave Sir Finley turned about
("I didn't!")
And gallantly he chickened out.

****Bravely**** taking ("I never did!") to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
("all lies!")
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Finley!
("I never!")

The phrases "Theo Burrito," "Theoio," "Theo Puppy," etc., make their way into any number of songs. Today's song was (courtesy of Pete Seeger):

"Hang your head poor Theo
Hang your head and whine
Hang your head poor Theo
Can't have no food o' mine!"

A slightly more complicated one from today is to the tune of Copland's "El Salon Mexico" (in a fast 3+3+2+2+2):

Theo puppy is a fuzzy black! boy!
He is playing with his gorilla! toy!

Yeah, we're music nerds here.

What, you don't sing the Mickey Mouse Club theme song to Mickey? LOL That's just one of the songs I sang to Mick, but the only one with his name in it.

As for Caleb, I've caught myself singing "I'm a Little Tea Pot" to him, substituting Stink for Tea. I've even "tipped him over and poured him out".
