I live on River Road. Their are geese everywhere, after all it's called River Road for a reason. The speed limit on my road is 25.
Twenty-five, people!!!!
Leaving for work this morning I see Mama and Papa goose, with about 5 babies. They were standing next to a baby that was just hit & killed. :( :(

I am fuming!!! People do 40-50 MPH, not giving 2 shits if they hit an animal or God forbid, one of the many people walking or biking.

I'm calling the cops this morning and complaining that we don't have enough checks on the road.

In deference to the grief experienced by Mama/Papa goose and to avoid any accuastion that I am a callous lout for thinking it, I shall keep my "hey, free pate!" comments to myself.

The **** geese stop traffic here all the time. I can handle the parades across the road. I can handle having to nudge them when they decide to park in the middle of the road. BUT I HAVE NO TOLERANCE FOR THEM when a flock decides to use the roadway as a landing strip. 40 or 50 geese coming at you head on, or from the side, to land on the road. I have hit more than one with the windshield while having more than one crash into the side of the car. Its like an armed invasion attacking. The stupid birds are too dumb to do a go-around, or land on the other side of the road. Its not like I am trying to hit them, its just impossible to avoid them. If you don't hit them, they will crash into the side of the car.

It's not like that here, Ed. They just mind their own business, hanging out by the river, or running across the street for their lives before they get hit.

I feel so bad for the ones I saw this morning. :(

I understand feeling bad for them when they get hit, honest! I just get so mad when we have a flock of them landing on the road when traffic is moving. Its not like its normal for drivers to be watching above for incoming birds, we tend to watch the raodway when we aren't texting while driving.

Freaking Goose **** everywhere!!! Not to mention the pisses of mom and dad that are standing in the middle of the walking trail and refuse to move. One of these days I will bring Hunter and Duke on my daily walk around the lake to clear the way.

I to feel bad for a animal being hit, but these Geese can get out of control in a hurry. I think the City just had a Goose roundup. They usually round up 3000-4000 Geese, the older ones are sent to the food shelf the younger ones are sent to the Zoo for the Wolves.

Yea, I despise the goose crap that Frankie will drag me across the street to get. The poor little ones are so innocent though, following Mama and Papa and then BAM they're dead. :( The really sad part though? The house where he got killed has a sign out front that their grandkids made. It says to slow down for wildlife, and they drew a picture of a goose on it.

Hunter just reminded me. The family that has the sign up! They need to take in a couple Labs. The goose problem will be solved. We have always had geese in the front yard, and the droppings that they leave. At least until 2 years ago. When Hershey was a puppy, I worked to get her to NOT chase the geese. Then I worked to have her NOT eat the waste. Then I got smart! I let her go after the geese. It only took about a week and we had no more geese in the yard, or neighbors yard. She never caught one of them, but they figured out it was not a goose friendly neighborhood.

My neighbor did this in our sub. They have written 5 tickets in the last week. I was talking a city cop that lives in the sub (the have a 7 mo old GSD)yesterday and they were surprised at how many they caught.

I hate the goose poop too. I won't take Zoe to swim at the nearby lake because of the poop everywhere. ICK!

You know what, Ed? Now that you mention it - we don't have any goose poop in our yard. NONE! Zilch! Everyone else does though. I never realized it was because of the dogs. Derrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'm sure the nice airline passengers that had the opportunity to play in the Hudson this February have a different viewpoint on geese.

I can't imagine driving much faster than 25-30 on your road Amy. Even 25 seems too fast! I wouldn't counton much help from the police. That's not exactly a large department, and the township is huge! As cruel as it sounds, I'm just glad it was "only" a goose that got hit, and not someone's child.
