No personal experience, but I know they're pretty common for video logging, and lots of reporters use them for on-the-fly documentation. We had a conference here at work a few weeks ago about how NGOs could use new media, and people were raving about their Flip cameras. So I would say that if you're looking to do some basic in-house video for your Web site, or whatever, it's a good bet. If you want to be the next Scorsese, you might need something more elaborate. :) I don't think they have image stabilization (could be wrong, though), so if you plan to do a lot of running around while shooting video, it may not work.

P.S. Check cnet.com or engadget.com for reviews of specific models. I find them pretty thorough.

We looked into the Flip for Kelsey for Christmas. But at that time they did not sell the HD version here in Canada. So we went with the Kodak Zi6, which is HD. They've now got a replacement model for the Kodak, which is cheaper, HD and has better resolution than the one we got Kelsey. IT's the same size as the Flip. And Kelsey loves hers!

I have a flip video and it's really easy for even ME to use. Highly recommend it. Charla likes her's, too. ;)

On of my students had one at class the other night. Cute and very easy to use. She did not have the HD, but the video's still looked good to me.

I want one!

I'm thinking it'll be good to send the summer students out around the city to shoot some video of them showing off some interesting places for people to go.. they can upload it to facebook and our tourism website to keep things fresh..

Plus i can use it for our powerpoints to Council.. i'm tired of using the big, professional camera for things this would probably do just as well with..

thanks everyone.

We love ours, so much easier to use. The kids are constantly grabbing it and making "movies". It keeps them entertained.
