It almost hit 70 yesterday, we were out at the dog park. This one has a small pond which is separately fenced within. I decided that it wouldn't be terrible if HK decided to go wading, so we went inside the pond area to walk around it.

I hadn't noticed the two ducks floating out in the middle, but HK did. Off she went for her first swim of the year. Couldn't believe ho hyped up she was when she came back. The pond is maybe 1.5 acres. She was in swimming 4 or 5 more times before I got around and back to the gate.

Our dog park has an awesome pond, as well as a fairly deep creek. Baloo goes swimming as soon as the ice melts. :)

This is him a few weeks ago, on probably swim number 2 or 3 of the year?

With other water-crazy labs.

Yay for spring!!

We haven't had our first swim yet (were worried about cold tail being we had a big dog show) and we're looking forward to Rhys' 8th birthday party extravaganza next weekend at Auntie Lou's with all his friends to break in their swimming gear :)

Warmer weather on the way Coco's Mom! We like to share in MN. We send our warm weather on eastward. I should mention that we also send our cold weather that way too.

How exciting! We took Raven to the park (along the river) last week. It was the first time it's been warm enough to let her jump in since we got her, so we didn't know what she would do. There were some geese in the water and she REALLY wanted them, so my husband unhooked her leash. She promptly jumped in, swam about 5 feet, turned around and got back out! Throughout the rest of the walk, she walked thisclose to the edge but never jumped in again. I can't wait until summer so we can take her swimming!

Bauer had his first swim about a month ago when a pond near our house thawed. We were out for an off-leash walk, and he saw the pond and decided to go for a swim. It had to be absolutely freezing, and he only lasted about 45 seconds. He ran in, started to swim out, turned around and came back. He spent the next 10 minutes rolling around in the grass trying to dry off. A couple of weeks ago he spent hours swimming on and off with his friend Buddy in our pond.

Sounds like a field dog to me.....get that girl out there with the birds! :D :D
There is no doubt in my mind that you are right. I am sure that HKs biggest disappointment is that I don't hunt.

Just yesterday at the DP a guy with another Chocolate was watching her search out a ball. He remarked that she must be a great hunting dog. He was commenting on the pattern she had set up and her nose staying close to the ground. He then told me that he hunts and he has a great dog for anything except hunting. He is gun shy.
