Rest in Peace Midge
January 29, 2007 – January 19, 2009

In Memory of a Good Friend

January 19, 2009.
We awoke this day,
Feeling great.
It was a day we planned to celebrate.

We watched the dogs enjoy their meal.
It gave us a warm fuzzy feel.

With their bowls licked clean,
We recognized that glean.
The look in their eyes,
Was no surprise.

They knew it was time.
As they spun on a dime.
I reached atop the fridge,
There sat Midge.

Midge was their duckie.
A tried and true stuffie.
A gift from Aunt Stephie.
Sent to welcome Romy into our home.

Sadly, the stuffie duckie was in ill repair.
Off popped her neck.
It gave us quite a scare.
Her belly split open.
She lay bare.
Down to the very last hair.
Duckie died today.
The dogs paused then stopped their play.

We watched as one tugged.
The other pulled.
Duckie had gotten very old.
She lasted two years.
Not one day more.
Because she tore.

Rest in Peace Duckie Midge.
When it was time to play,
She gave our dogs a daily workout.
Otherwise you nested safely on top of our Fridge.

I saw the dates. Two years old. I could only imagine the worst and what could happen that we lost a two year old. I can't tell you glad I was to read that a stuffie had come to the end of the line. Maybe it is cruel, but I am glad the stuffie is gone. So much better than what I had anticipated.

Pat.. the first stuffie is a Canada Goose.. the second is a Mallard.. something's gone awry.. =)

Kelli you are right. I am going to have to get out a chair and get up on top of the fridge and see if that one is still alive. Not sure where it is at.

LOL! Rest in peace, Midge. Two years is a good, long life for a stuffie, much longer than any of the stuffies I've known.
