How do I find out if a kennel name is already taken before naming a registered dog?

You can also google it, and look for it at OFA and AKC. If you're not sure how to do it, feel free to PM me the name youre thinking and I'll look it up.

And if all else fails and you still pick one that is not in use by Labs but is registered w/ AKC, they will send your application back for a do over.
It happened to me. It was registered to some collie breed I think back in 70's and not even being used any more.
I was very bummed.

The list provided is not exhaustive. My dog's kennel, Caballero, is not listed.

If its not listed then you didn't apply to have it listed. The owner is not psychic. Psychotic maybe but not psychic.

Also, if you got your pup from a breeder ( and that's why you are asking ) remember you will need to use their kennel name, if that's what they requested...
