Doggie dementia

Hi. I have an almost 11 year old chocolate lab named Mulligan. He has bad arthritis in his left front wrist and has been on tramadol for that for the last year. 3 months ago he started whining and crying starting about a 4 pm and going on until about 10. He is happy and fine during the day! Our vet thinks he may have dementia and is "sundowning". She put him on gabapentin and trazodone. We also give him CBDs. Everything seems to help him some but, unless he is eating a bone, he still moans and cries for hours. It is very hard to deal with and I feel horrible for him.

I am going to bring him to the vet again this week to see what else she can do.

Any advice?
