Today's the day!! I've been talking about doing this for a long time and I'm finally doing it!! Going the the Devachan Salon and Departure Salon for my haircut, this place specializes in curly hair and is located down in SoHo (in Manhattan).

There goes my monthly spending money......

Okay guys, it's exactly as you've heard! Quite an amazing job!
She cut my hair dry (I had to go w/o any product in my hair, that was quite a sight in itself!). She then cut into the curl...she'd lift some hair and make a slit in the middle.

Then the wash with scalp cleanser, special conditioner, and their "gel" which is absolutely weightless. I had no idea I had such gorgeous lightweight curls! Well, I like them anyway.

She told me that one of the secrets to good, healthy curls is NOT to use shampoo because of the sulphate Laureate (sp??), they have their own products (a soapless cleanser) you can buy but they certainly don't push it on you. ALSO, don't towel dry since curls need the moisture and towel drying takes most of it out.

I will post pictures tomorrow. If anyone is interested in their products you can go to their website to learn about them @ Devachan.com.

There was some big $$$ damage but I'm worth it right?????

I'm so glad you had a good time! It's so nice to do something really good for yourself every now and then - excited to see the before and after pictures! :D

I love their products and use the "gel" :) Did you buy anything? I've wondered how the shampoo works. Did they cut it really short? I looked into going there a few years ago when John lived in Manhattan, but there was something about letting them go as short as they want that scared me off.
I bought the shampoo, conditioner and "gel"!! They asked me how much length I wanted to keep, we cut about 2" and they thinned out the back by making a lot of layers! You can get rid of some of the water with paper towels, a t-shirt, or one of those thin towels (like a dishtowel but not the ones with loops), or a microfiber towel.
