My daugher noticed Hercules had a cut on his bottom lip the other day, it almost looked like it might need to be stitched, but I figured that he would of just pulled them out anyway.
I have been keeping an eye on it, and it appears to be healing quite well.

I was wondering what the general opinion was about how often, or how severe a cut should be before running to the vet. It is hard to know sometimes. I dont want to look like a sooky la la and run as soon as anything happens, but I also want to be doing the best thing for my much loved pup.

I hope Hercules' lip is fully healed.

My rule of thumb about stitches is, if I cant stop the bleeding within a reasonable amount of time, we go. Or if the cut looks particularly deep, we go right away. It's one of those you know it when you see it things, I think.

It's now 3 days since we noticed the cut and although it hasnt fully healed, it is a very clean looking cut (that is healing) and it doesnt look infected or anything so I think we are pretty safe..

thanks
