Cut paw pad

I mentioned in another thread that Elias cut his paw pad at the dog beach the other day. We have been appliying bactine and neosporin.
I think the pain is getting worse, he is limping really bad and barely putting any pressure on this foot.
Last night when I came home from work he was out side and tried to go up the 2 steps out back and fell. This morning he wouldn;t go down the stairs so my husband carried him out back and then I carried him back in the house before I left for work.
Does that sound normal? Should be be that sore?

I am thinking we might take a trip to the vet tonight.

I would take him to the vet.... Indy cut his foot at the beach once and we had the same problem, but what we didnt know is there was a little piece of glass imbedded in the pad, so every time he would walk, it would bleed...Good luck with your dog...

Yeah it crossed my mind that maybe something was in there, but it looks like a clean cut and it hasn't bled since we left the beach. But I guess we'll take him to the vet just in case.
Awww, poor baby! :( I wonder if Musher's would help? Definitely get him to the vet, just to be safe. I know when I have a cut on the bottom of my foot it hurts like hell to put any pressure on it.
Awwww Elias *smooches*

Abby cut her paw pad a few summers back and we had the same problem. We took her into the vet and he flushed it out really good, and then he used some glue (surgical glue I think?) and then bandaged it up with some vet wrap to keep it clean.
It is a horrible place for a dog to injure him self on that spot. But, time will heal all wounds, but if youre not sure, just go visit youre vet ;)
Aww poor Elias. I hope he's better soon.
Poor fellow. :( A number of years ago, Riley did the same thing. It was a long time before it healed because he often reopened the wound. Linda (Zoesmom) suggested EMT gel http://emtgel.com/whytouse/index.php

This stuff supposedly hastens along healing while it seals the wound.

Hope Elias heals quickly.
I hope Elias heals quickly. Molly cut her paw pad pretty bad on ice several years ago. It took awhile to heal. I used Neosporin & was always checking to make sure it wan't getting infected.
Well, we were in and out of the vets office in about 5 minutes. He's fine, nothing is in there it's just gonna take time to heal.
Poor guy, he was so excited to go for a car ride. So I stopped on the way home and got a few marrow bones for the buys.
Aww poor Elias. I'm glad that it checked out okay, though.

Good healing thoughts for Elias!!!
