In another thread I mentioned that Elias cut a chunk off his paw pad at the dog beach yesterday, most likely on a shell.
We cleaned it, applied bactine and neosporine ointment as soon as we got home and again this morning.
He's limping pretty bad and acting really bummed.
Should I be doing anything else? It hasn't bled at all since we were at the beach.

When Bunny cut her paw pad, we did the same as you, cleaned it, put a little neosporin on it and left it alone. I happened to be at the vet with her a few days later for her annual check up and she said that it should heal up just fine without any other intervention and sure enough its good as new.

My Toshiko cut her paw pad early this spring...it wasn't deep and rather small so wasn't a necessary vet visit. I just cleaned it really well with some peroxide and added some ointment to it, then put one of those corn band-aids over it so when she walked most the pressure was on it instead. Then wrapped up her entire paw and up her leg some so she couldn't pull it off.

Cleaned her paw and changed the dressings twice a day and she healed up in about a week!
