Crockpot Mac and Cheese

602 Views 12 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  JacobAlthea&Tatum
Has anyone ever made Mac & Cheese in the crockpot - without cooking the macaroni first? I have come across a few recipes where the macaroni is added uncooked. Just curious if anyone has tried it and how it turned out.

Have done both M&C and lasagna without boiling noodles in crockpot 1st - both are fine Nicki!

very good news, now will someone please post the recipe over in the recipe section? Thanks
Yes - I would like a recipe for it too!
I know the best mac and cheese is made with a roux/bechamel sauce...but for some reason, I cannot make a good cheese sauce that way. There's got to be something better than Ragu or Velveeta out there, though.
Can of cheddar cheese soup!
Maybe w/one can of milk added.
And the dry noodles
S&P
Voila!

Try those - on the lasagna, I pour approx 1 cup water around outside edge of crockpot rather than cooking the noodles 1st...
Good news. I'll try one tonight and let you know how it turns out!

melt 1/4 c. butter
brown 1/4 cup flour
add a squirt of mustard and some worsh. sauce
cook flour until nutty (the flour, not the cook)
slowly add 2 c. milk a 1/4 c or so at a time, stiring into a paste
add 2 c. cheese - i like a combo of cheddar anf geureaire (sp, sorry).
season with a dash of salt it desired.

just had this for supper.
