I was walking Lucky along the sidewalk by our yard, as she's suppose to have 4-6 short walks a day while she's recouping.

This elderly lady comes walking down the road with her...I dunno what it was...some fuzzy little yappy dog. So I move Lucky into the yard as we're walking, one to make way for the little old gal, and two to avoid her and this little dog playing because I don't want her to get injured.

Did I mention the little yappy one was NOT on a LEASH? My city has a leash law!

Well little yappy dog comes BOUNDING into our yard towards Lucky and I, yapping ferociously if you could call it that.... I'm putting myself between Lucky and the dog, again to insure she's going to be okay and two to make sure she doesn't get annoyed with the brute and bite him. Lucky is just sitting there behind me with her head cocked to one side like "WTF is that thing?!"

The old lady just stands there on the sidewalk chuckling "He won't hurt you, he just wants to say hello and play." This was NOT a friendly bark he was giving.

I calmly bit my lip and replied "I'm sure he just wants to play but my dog just had surgery and she's not suppose to run around and play or anything. Could you please call your dog back out of my yard?"

She claps her hands and calls the dog....which Ignores her and keeps yapping at us and jumping around. Lucky continues to just stare at this little dog. So I back us up and try to walk her around to another side of the house and he just keeps yapping and walking towards us. I put Lucky back in a sit and just stare at the lady who is making NO move towards the yard or her dog. She just says "He's not going to hurt you!"

Through clenched teeth I say "Ma'm if it was MY dog jumping and barking at you, you would be calling her a vicious brute!" "Well yes because your dog is much bigger than my little guy here." Then as if to make a point Happy, who is in the house lets out a resounding "WOOF!" and she jumps. I said "He just wants to say hello." She chuckled and attempted to call her dog once again who is now jumping on my leg trying to get around me to Lucky who is still just staring at it like "Mom what IS that?!"

Finally I tell Lucky "STAY" and drop her leash. Grab the yappy dog by his collar and haul him back to his owner myself. Who promptly picks him up and starts comforting him about the "Mean Lady!!!!"

I go back to Lucky and pick up her leash and head inside, helping her up the stoop. As I look back I see her put her little dog down who proceeds to pee on a bush in my yard and then POOPS and SHE LEFT IT THERE!!

OHHHHHH I am so mad!!!

If I ever see her out again I'm following her home and then reporting to Animal Control her lack of LEASH FOLLOWING!!!

I know! Did I handle that correctly? I tried to remain as calm as possible. I didn't throw the dogs poo at her or anything....though the thought certainly crossed my mind!

You are much, much nicer than I am. I would have put my dog back in the house, pick up the poop and followed her home then placed the poop on HER DOOR STEP. I can't tolerate lazy, inconsiderate owners. So I say you did very well. You get a pat on the back for your calm attitude and patience.:)

You were definitely much more restrained and nicer than I would have been. I would have gotten the garden hose and turned it on them.

The dog being unleashed aside, after you told her that Lucky had just had surgery and that no play was allowed, she SHOULD have removed her dog, if not by command then she should have come and got him. After all, it is your yard, and the lady should have respected that.

I think I would have found a leaf, paper towel, something, and scooped the poop up, handed it to her and told her she left something in my yard. People like that forst my arse. It's bad enough that they let their dogs run loose, but failure to respect another person's dog and yard is pure crap. Ok, rant's over.

Oh my goodness. The nerve of that lady, old or not. You definately get the gold star for taking the higher ground. I really don't think I would have been that polite and I would have followed her home with her dog's poop and personally put it in her hand or at least on her front porch. We don't ever take the girls out walking without having our baggies handy. That is just rude and inconsiderate. Lucky deserves extra treats for being very polite too. You should get extra chocolate or ice cream! :)

Seems like someone needs a little lesson in etiquette. Personally I would have said something along the lines of how the yapper was so small he would barely make a snack. And how it's a good thing the yapper was just being friendly, because that happened before, the other dog took months to recover... :D

BTW, I don't want to get off topic, but Justine, Abbey is a beautiful dog... ;)

IF Shane had been home so I could have followed her I might not have handled it as well, but it was just me at home with Phoenix so I didn't want to be nasty and have my son see it lol.

I say you get a gold star for showing remarkable restraint dealing with her.

You clearly asked her several times to come get her dog off your yard, you even explained that your pup was injured.

She is either ignorant or stupid, possibly both. If you had picked up the poo and tossed it at her, I would not have blamed you one single bit.

You and Lucky should be commended for your good behavior. I would hate to think what would happen if a yappy dog went after my dogs in their own yard.

You'd be surprised what those "yappers" can do. I had a Chihuahua that beat up a GSD once. It wasn't a pretty sight! :D

You did well Brandie. If it were me, I would have said something like, "look you dumb arse b**** I told you my dog has just had an operation. Get your stupid mutt off my property because if your stupid mutt injures her, I'll have your sorry arse in court for the vet bill. Now take your stupid mutt & GTF off my property!"

With particular emphasis on the stupid mutt bit. Her type don't like their babies being spoken about like that.
