Crazy things I see on the drive to work

I tend to see crazy stuff on my drive to work - the joys of driving through the country I guess.

Anyways, this morning it was a beaver sitting in the middle of the road in a small town just outside of Guelph. There was a road crew with flashing lights, shovels and other stuff, I suspect trying to figure out how to move this thing. I have no idea if it was hurt or not, but that thing was HUGE!!

I said a little prayer to St. Francis that he would get home alright (yes, beavers are a nuisance, but it's gotta be scary to be one and in the middle of the road...)

I'm super curious now as to what his final fate is. I'll probably never find out though.

Uhhh. Wouldn't that be Ms. Beaver? Or is that only if she's shaved?
Hope all is well with Mr. Beaver! We have stopped for frog crossings. There seems to be this annual crossing from one pond to another across the road. We have stopped for geese, turkeys and turtles also. I don't mind it one bit.
Kewl... I saw 10 turkeys on the way to work... :p ;D
I was up in that area this weekend Katrina and noticed one of the "odd" signs posted. Now I have seen moose crossing in Northern Ontario and deer crossign as well as goose crossing in Toronto by the waterfront but this weekend took the cake for me ........Turtle crossing! I thinkit was around Elmira somewhere!

Were you up for the Maple Syrup Festival? This is the first year I didn't go, and I missed it. That thing rocks!! But yep, there is a turtle crossing sign up around there.

I've also stopped for frogs crossing too, Darren! We have one "rural highway", that is a well known frog crossing spot. We're talking hundreds and hundreds. It's pretty amazing to see.

Now Dan, what would the Disney Folks think if they knew you were in a beaver state of mind and about to visit their fine facility?
Karina, I would have to know too. Can you call the road dept? ;D I probably would. LOL

it's a small world, after all?
Nope we just went for a drive (we are in georgetown) and ended up in that area - we hadn't been in a while and only had a few hours. We went up the back roads to Acton and then out and up towards Elmira - we were headed to Arthur until hubby saw the sign to Salem and took a hard left (we didn't know we had a Salem in Ontario!) and from there we would back to Elmira and did a bit of browsing - they have a great craft/art store there! Then we came home. We are known for leaving at 9 am and returning at 10pm having wandered all over southern Ontario.
lmao @ dan!!! :p

every time i hear the word beaver i think of a shirt we used to sell at hollister...it was yellow and on the front there were 3 things,
1) the letter 'I'
2) a heart
3) a beaver looking in the mirror shaving
This is one of my favorites:

I also remember my dad having a "If you're Canadian, show me your Beaver" T-shirt at some point too.

Always comes back to the size issue huh? ;)
Oh great.. now I have that song stuck in my head!! ::) :p

When I was on the way home yesterday I saw our "resident" groundhog scoot around the corner of the barn and run underneath the side door. :D

Last evening we watched a pair of ducks on our pond and a pair of geese on our lake - while 8 deer walked across the field across the valley.

And, on my way to work this morning, there was a flock of wild turkey in our neighbors field next to the main road.

It is great to live out in the boonies!! ;D
Hope he made it safely out the road. The only ones i usually see here are already smooshed in the road. :(
