made me think. What do you all keep from your dating days that is special to you? I have an ankle bracelet made out of a twig that my hubby made for me the first time we went camping. I consider it my engagement ring.

My dog :)

I also save all letters and cards because I love to go back and read them. Although, despite my hinting how much I love cards on special occasions I think John's given me one in five years - and it was from Jake :p

I have some movie and theater stubs, some matchbooks from restaurants...I have several stuffed animals he gave me. I have tons of cards from over the years in a box somewhere. But what I love the most are the pictures. We've been together for 17 years - since college and I love looking at how we've changed and the places we've been and the things we've seen.

After almost 21 years and a couple of moves, stuff has gotten lost in the shuffle.

I'd have to say my wedding ring.

After 30 years I'm just glad he keeps me around! Actually for years I kept a matchbook he gave me on our first date, it had a picture of JFK on it! Funny thing is neither of us ever smoked:confused: Not sure whatever happend to it.

My favorite thing is the receipt from the crappy little chapel in Las Vegas where we got married. We got married on a whim in the middle of the night with no guests. The receipt had a place where it said "Referred By" and they wrote in "Cab Driver".

It still makes me laugh.

Ok, keep in mind I was married in 1997. From our dating years, I have a mixed tape of rock ballads that he made for me (shut up).

I also diamond stud earrings, a gold necklace, and a Christmas tree ornament he bought for me our first "dating" Christmas.

I have a certificate of a star Shane named after me, diamond star earrings and matching necklace he gave me at prom, a diamond star ring he gave me on our anniversary, all of his cards and love letters, drawings he did of me, a little toy porsche he gave me on valentine's day (I told him sarcastically I wanted a porsche)...Jeez! I have a lot that he gave me! Oh yeah, our patio swing he bought for my front porch in college because I like to swing, some stuffed animals, a mirror that he hand carved stars, a sun and moon into, and a couple of beautiful statues he gave me that made him think of me. I am sure there is more I am not thinking of...

I love that man! I can't beleive how well he knows me and he is so sentimental and sweet :)

I met Mark through my cousin in 1989, I went out one evening with her and some of her friends, Mark was one of those friends, we were all sitting in a pub, he peeled the top layer of a paper drinks mat and wrote his phone number on and handed it to me with a wink. I still have that beer soaked mat with his # on in my jewellry box as a keepsake~:)

I have a photo album with all of the movie and show/concert ticket stubs from our first few years of dating (SU that is). I have all of the paperwork/plaquards from every drag race event we've participated in.

And I have one letter from a very, very good looking guy who wouldn't give me the time of day until I moved from IL to MA during high school. We went on one date when I went back to IL for a visit with the family two years after I moved.

My DH and I made a cross country trip in 1980 NJ to Colorado in my 1970 Ford Fairlane wagon (straight shift, no A/C, slept in the back). On the way back we went up to the Detroit area where his brother lived at the time. We went to this wonderful park (Greenfield Village, I think) and had a great time. While there I found this machine that would stamp a message of your choice into a metal disc. I made one - "Tom and Sha 4 Ever" and the date and have had it on my keyring ever since. You can't read it anymore - but I know what it said.

I keep 100s of things from my dating days. I'll admit over time, some things get faded or tend to lose the original meaning for which I chose to keep them. Everyone once in awhile I'll stumble across something that I haven't remembered in years. Like everyone else, I've lost scores of things over the passage of time. That happens with memories.
That's all I hold on to.
