I heard that this morning.

A rep said Chastity Bono, who came out at 18 as a lesbian, and now goes by Chaz, hopes to stay out of the media’s glare during the transitioning process.
One question, if she hopes to stay out of the media's glare, then why did she tell the media? I didn't read about this in Star, The Enquirer, etc, I heard about it on NBC. I don't get the "tell the media, but I don't want the attention" thing at all. NOt just with this, but lots of other stuff, too.

Well I'm guessing she wanted to get it out there, so she's not stalked by paparrazzi, making up stories during the transition.

I'm sort of uncomfortable with the whole he/she thing though. Not sure why.

They're referring to her as "he", but "he" is still a "she". She still has girl parts, so in my mind, she's a she.

Got that? :D

Wouldn't want to share a locker room with //her//.

Come to think of it, wouldn't want to share a locker room with a post-surgery //him//, either.

people are still the same person on the inside no matter what "parts" they choose to have. i don't see why this is such a hard concept to grasp unless you have your own hangups about it.

discrimination is discrimination whether it be black vs white or real vagina vs "synthetic" or real penis vs "synthetic." it doesn't change who a person IS on the inside.

i don't get the ick factor about the real deal. nothing about the human body is icky to me.(not counting bodily excretions...let's not go there.)

*edited because i am not current on this story and don't know which parts are which. it does not change my opinion so it really doesn't matter anyway. ;)

Nice. Jesus must be proud.
I'm a happily married man who doesn't want to share a locker room with a woman who's not my wife. Why would Jesus object?

I don't find it hard to grasp at all, you are absolutely right. I said I was happy her Mom and friends all support her. :)
