I have a Nikon D50 and I love it. I need a better lense though. Saving $$$!
I have a Canon Powershot S5 (new model is something else though maybe SX10?) and I love it. Accepts lenses etc, but can be used as a point and shoot, which actually accomodates me much better. It takes great shots when I am doing things right. About $320- And I got mine online. I bought a bunch of crap, lenses and adapters and filters etc. but you dont have to to get a decent picture out of it.

For the record my signature picture was taken 4 years ago, and not with that camera.
Do you want point and shoot or more? I have a simple Canon point and shoot from their PowerShot line, paid about $170 for it 2 years ago.
Canon Rebel EOS XT. Not too sure what it retails for now, but it did retail for $999 when I got mine. Love it! Have a few lenses for it too.
I need somthing that I can Point and shoot and then I also need somthing that I can get some long distance shots on. I do black and white of old farm houses and cows out in the field stuff like that. And I also take pictures of my Daughter when the band is on the football field marching. and of course the most important is the goof balls labs that rule my house.
My friend as the CANON SD110 that he really likes. He also has a Nikon D80 that takes really nice pictures.
I have a Nikon D40 and love it to death. If you are looking for something for long distance shots, you are going to need something with a realllly good optical zoom. That said, you will probably need something with a good lens. Digital zoom doesn't look good because it gets all grainy.
I am really leaning towards the Nikon D90 it is such a nice camera and can put different lenses on it. but 1,600 for a camera geez going to see if I can find something a little cheaper than that.
The D90 is a really nice camera. 3 of my coworkers just bought it. They had a special where it came with the 18-105 for about $1400. I'm not sure where they all bought it from, though.

I have a Rebel XTi....I really kind of want an XSi but I can't justify it since my XTi is only a year old. I really like it, though.
I have a Canon Rebel Xt and I love it. I think it was about $750 when I got it. The latest and greatest are really nice too and are about $800 I think.
I have a Canon G6 and a Canon XT. The G6 was bought new at Beachcamera.com The XT was bought used on ebay.

My avatar was taken by the G6 on a tripod with a remote.
I have the canon xt with several lenses. I'd love to upgrade, but...
I have a Canon powerShot SD990 IS for my purse. It is a 14.7 mega pixel camera, very small and takes wonderful pictures. I really like it.
Canon Rebel XTi. Was $900 when I originally bought it. Lenses extra.
A Nikon D90 is a lot of camera.

You can get p&s's with really good optical zooms now.

Here's one with an 18x optical zoom:

I have a Canon Rebel XTi. I haven't used it enough to really give an opinion of it yet...which is sad since I've had it several months. The few pictures I have taken have been great though.
I had last week a Canon EOS 1000D and so far so good I love it, will probably love it more once I read the manual and figure out how to get the best from it!

If you're gonna upgrade, go big. Get at full frame sensor... Canon 5D *drool* =)
