I just did both dogs out on the deck with the Zoom Groom and noticed the birds in the trees nearby stalking the fur.
Katie wondered out loud, whose fur they would like better???? Aidan's or Emma's so we improvised a quick scientific experiment and left 2
piles of hair outside approx 3 feet apart. We called the dogs in, made sure the cats weren't outside and watched from the window.

Within a couple of minutes they were swooping down to nick some fur. The results of this rather crude experiment were
Almost all of Aidan's yellow fur pile is gone. And only about 1/2 of Emma's black was taken.
Conclusion:
Birds prefer pork chop flavored fur ;D

The birds here aren't picky. They'll take any and all I throw out there. Most of Remy's hair pile from yesterday is gone.

Neat experiment.
Maybe they prefer the yellow fir over the black because the color is closer to natural vegetation (like dead grass or twigs). I can't really think of any natural black vegetation. Of course either makes great nesting material so I'm sure they'd be happy with the black fur too. :)
