I was never a huge fan. Sure I knew their music. But I was more into punk and classic rock. Not some teeny bopper stuff. I'm reading the new book out by John Lennon. A friend copied the complete Beatles for me. It took like 30 cd's. Ive been listening to some of their obscure stuff and really am amazed. I think so many people think the Beatles are all about Let It Be, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Ticket To Ride. I never really appreciated some of their lyrical talent that Lennon and McCartney had. I bought a book yesterday that contains all their lyrics, and I've just been reading it page after page. I need a bigger Ipod.

Speaking of the Beatles. Last week one of the new right out of college hires went to lunch with us and during the lunch conversation someone said something about John Lennon and this girl said "I think I heard of him. Was he in a band?"

I never listened to them before I met my husband and his family. His dad is a huge Beatles fan.

Kelsey, who is 11, LOVES the Beatles. She has all their music on her iPod. She has shirts and books. Her favorite song used to be Yellow Submarine. LOL. Not sure why.

But yeah- we're all fans in this house.

Never been a fan. I heard on the radio this week that one of them was married but they had some odd(to me) relationship where he was allowed to have sex with some other friend. :suspious:

The this lady got pg and the wife said enough...WTH? :ugly:

You weren't scarred by 'Helter Skelter'?
Miss Ziemba showed the Charles Manson movie or documentary, whatever it was, in 9th grade and that's what I think of when I hear that song.

No scarring involved.

Allan Sherman: Pop Hates the Beatles

Sung to the tune: Pop Goes the Weasel

_________________________________________________

My daughter needs a new phonograph.
She wore out all the needles.
Besides, I broke the old one in half.
I hate the Beatles.

She says they have a Liverpool beat.
She says they used to play there.
Four nice kids from offa the street.
Why didn’t they stay there?

What is all the screaming about?
Fainting and swooning.
Sounds to me like their guitars
Could use a little tuning.

The boys are from the British Empire.
The British think they’re keen.
If that is what the British desire,
God Save The Queen.

No daughter of mine can push me around.
In my house I’m the master.
But when the British come into town,
Gad, what a disaster!

Little girls in sneakers and jeans.
Destroyed the territory.
‘Twas like some of the gorier scenes
From West Side Story.

Of course my daughter had to go there.
“The tickets are cheap!” she hollers.
I was able to pick up a pair
For forty-seven dollars.

When the Beatles come on the stage,
They scream and shriek and cheer them.
Now I know why they’re such a rage,
It’s impossible to hear them.

Ringo is the one with the drum,
The others all play with him.
It shows you what a boy can become
Without a sense of rhythm.

There’s Beatle books and T-shirts and rings,
And one thing and another.
To buy my daughter all of these things,
I had to sell her brother.

Back in 1776
We fought the British then, folks.
Parents of America,
It’s time to do it again, folks.

When they come back, here’s how we’ll begin,
We’ll throw ‘em in Boston Harbor.
But please, before we toss ‘em all in,
Let’s take ‘em to a barber!

I don't hate the Beatles, btw. But they lost me in the psychodelic era.

You might enjoy the movie Across the Universe... that was my first real introduction to Beatles (of course I had heard "I wanna hold your hand" and "Imagine"... yes I know the second one is just Lennon but to me it's all connected) It's a nice sampling of their music and I really liked how they took the songs lyrics and changed them for the movie. Bono singing "I am the walrus" was awesome lol.

I think my favorite song is "Come Together"... but I also like "While my guitar gently weeps"

I was going to suggest this also. It is one movie I can watch over and over, because of the songs and the singing.

Yep, Lennon/McCartney .... great song writers.

The DVD for which is currently OOP for some reason.........
Gah! I know! They only have it on DVD in Australia and it wont work on U.S. dvd players.

Seems that the only one current on DVD that is easy to find is HELP. A friend and I are watching it this weekend along with plenty of Mojitos.
