I did the same thing. I think medium is just a bit too dark for me.

If you have an Ulta store by you go in there and try the foundations. They make a shade between light and medium. I use it in the winter as I am fair skinned and freckled. The light is to light for me. In the summer even though I use sun block I am dark enough to wear the medium.
