I'm so so SO proud of him.
He was entered in two trials today, and QUALIFIED in the first one with a score of 180! WOOOOT!!! He lost NO points for stand for exam or recall in either trial. AWESOME. We have some work to do on heeling, but overall he was not too bad, I expected worse.
His second run was even better that the first. His heeling was much improved, especially on the figure 8. BUT, he did a little scooch step forward during the long sit, so NQ. Kinda frustrating because he didn't even really come out of the sit, just scooched forward a tad to smell a different spot on the mat.
I almost wish he had broke completely, grr!
If he hadn't made that itty bitty mistake he would have gotten a score of 186. Not too shabby for his first time in novice!
What was REALLY, super awesome was that he didn't break during his stays, even though the dog beside him did on every single one. The first trial that dog went visiting to the dog on his right (Baloo was on his left) and so was excused at that point and didn't do the long down, but the second trial he broke the sit and ran out in front, and was allowed to come back for the long down, where he did the same thing again, argh. So I was really proud of him for staying strong even in less than ideal situations. GOOD BOY!!
Overall he really blew me away today. He tried so hard and more importantly, really seemed to be having fun in the ring. What a great dog he's turning out to be, I'm just thrilled.
