Recently it's been so cold that I'd stopped XC-skiing or going on Puff's and my trips to the nearby nature preserve. Instead we just step outside, I sling her training dummy up and down the street until she poops and then we come in.

But this morning, it'd warmed up to 17ºF/-8ºC so off we went and both really enjoyed it. The snow was still cold enough to be squeaky, crunchy, under my weight but wasn't sticky on the skis. And it was still soft enough to not risk any cuts to Puff's feet. Puff loved sniffing a new display of smells.

She's staying a real doll about letting me lather her paws with "Musher's Secret" (to prevent snow/ice balls forming between her pads) before we get out of bed.

We went a mile.

Now it's back to the Ibuprofen for me.

We are likewise back to our xc ski regimen...our temps in Montana have warmed up, too. Snow conditions aren't the best...hard, icy and loud - but that's OK. The dogs and I have established our trails through the hills and now it's just a matter of re-tracking each day. Amazing to see what critters have likewise adopted our trails as their own byways.

I am glad that the temps have moderated for you, Bob. I bet Puff is glad, too! Payton and I were out early this morning. The weather forecast predicts temps near 40* for the weekend. :(
