    DefaultDon Sullivan the dogfather???

Has anyone heard or even tried the training videos that Don Sullivan puts out? I was watching tv and came upon his informerial. He uses a non shock collar, so I think thats good. But what I didn't see was any actual methods.

I have not seen the DVD, but it comes with a modified prong collar, and 3 leads. So, the corrections look like they would come with a prong.

never heard of him, but, IMO, spend your money on a quality group obedience course or a few sessions with a private trainer.

My friend just got the whole DVD and training set and absolutely LOVES it!!! she has made great progress with her female, yellow Lab with jumping and pulling on the leash. It's a 5 hour DVD set. he also does not advocate training with treats which was a plus for her since her Labs tend to gain weight easily. It also helps with the dogs not working unless you have a treat in your hand. she is VERY IMPRESSED and says it was well worth the money. I can't wait to see these DVDs myself.

That's very easily handled by pre-measuring the next meal and using some of that kibble for treats.

Some people do NOT like using treats and positive reinforcement. Most do and do very well with it.

Aw heck, I have a collar conditioned, force fetched, trained with indirect pressure HT hound, and when we bust out a new skill, I train with cheez-its! Cheez-its are very powerful!

I started doing this per Bob's advice a couple of years ago. Since then Oona has lost 20 lbs. (Oona says thanks Bob) When she gets a treat all it is is one kernel of her dog food. Dogs don't have a concept of portion, all they know is they are getting something.
