    DefaultSuccess with "Down"

I posted a thread a few days ago about how I was having a really hard time teaching Odie "down" I used your suggestions and it worked. I used my legs as a tunnel to make him go down to get a treat and it worked. I couldn't believe how fast it worked. Within minutes he was going down on command. It's not perfect yet, but It's going really well for the first day. Just wanted to thank everybody that helped.

Awesome! Milly does down but it's the only command she likes to "think" about first and sometimes she just refuses. So we've decided to take Bob Pr's advice and make her drop for her dinner. Hope it works as well as the tunnel has for you with Odie!

    well done Odie!!
    cheers Sarah

Congratulations!! That is always great to get them "down" which always seems to be the hardest to do.

    Hi,

You said, "I used my legs as a tunnel and it worked."

Can you please give me more details?

Sit up against a wall or a couch on the floor and bend your knees to make a tunnel. Then you lure the dog through your legs with a treat. Because he'll have to go under your legs to get at the treat he'll naturally have to get "down". As soon as he hits the floor, say "down" and treat. Do this for five minutes several times a day, and he'll catch on.

    Hi skoper 50,

    I got it.

    Thanks for the additional information.

Take care and be good to your four-legged friend(s).
