so oscar is doing not so bad with the biting. every time he bites/chews I stop him immediately and give him his rawhide bone and say "NO, BONE" and hes getting pretty good at it. I still roll around with him and let him nip me and play along but sometimes he bites at my face when its close. Ive heard for teaching them to give "kisses"(licks) on the face. Is there any help for me and Oscar? Thanks!
I would try to avoid the rough play until you get the bitting stopped for a bit it will only confuse him now if it's ok some times and not others. To teach kisses I've been told to put some peanut butter on your hand. When they start licking priase "good kisses" try it a few times and he should catch on pretty quick.
cool, thanks. Im going to try the PB on the hand. Any other suggestins?
Maggie (4mos.) is a big licker but wasn't at first. I would give her kisses and when she kissed back I would give lots of praise and massages. She caught on very fast. She will only sometimes nip at me and usually by accident. However she nips hard at my husband who riles her up and wrestles with her. No amount of explaining it to him works! :
Dont play rough with him it just encourages biting IMOOriginally Posted by WillV341
