    DefaultFirst Lab-Suggestions?

    This is my first lab. He was a birthday present from my parents. I dont know much about the breed, but I love to read. Any suggestions on good care and training books? Or other tips would be appecitaited

    Congratulations!! I'm sure you'll both learn a lot from each other.

    I suggest you read through the thread "Our best advice" in this section.

    The book on dog training by Jean Donaldson, "Culture Clash," is consistently judged as among the very top books (see owner comments in Amazon).

    For a general understanding of dogs, I like any of the books by Dr. Patricia McConnell, such as "The Other End of the Leash."

    Whether or not he does is mostly up to you, not him.

    I'm sure he'll be fantastic, as most labs are, as long as you put lots of time into training and interacting with him.
