DefaultMicrochip ID - Do you recommend it?

Been debating having a microchip done on our puppy, but after talking to someone this weekend that lost her lab recently ( did not have the collar at the time). I am really thinking of doing it now. What are your suggestions? Who did it for you? Cost?
I read somewhere once that sometimes they travel in the pets body, any truth to that?

    Thanks!

YES! microchipping your dog is one of the best things you can do. Tags can be ripped off collars so microchips are the "ultimate" form of ID. They are essential in my opinion.

It is true that the chips sometimes move around the body. I would not worry though. If your dog gets lost and taken into a rescue/vets he or she will be scanned all over for the chip.

No clue what the cost would be for you, but I would definitely recommend it. My pup is getting chipped when I have him neutered mid-April so that he has the benefit of being under the anesthetic when it is done. As far as I'm concerned, its a must have form of ID.

I paid $30 at my vet (in Canada), plus $11 registration fee to the company. He did it on while getting his second round of shots. Chatham didn't even flinch even though the needle is bigger than the vaccine needle. I don't know about where you live, but here, if he gets picked up the the SPCA, there is no charge even if they hold him overnight because of his ID tag. I just feel safer. It's worth it to me.

Ender is microchipped as well. Doesn't hurt them (I don't even think he noticed he was too focused on the treat) and the cost is so small compared to the potential benefit.

Rowan was microchipped by the breeder. I have to pay the $11 for the registration fee with the company though.

    I would recommend it too!!

Thanks for the recommendations, she is getting spayed in January, so I'll ask the vet to do at the same time.
    Thanks!

Make sure you register the chip though. We had a dog come through the rescue that was microchipped that had never been registered.

Absolutely! $10 the vet. I would also get a tag from the company for the collar, and a few months after you have it done have the vet techs check it with a scanner. Oona's has moved and its now on one of her legs below her shoulder.
