Our breeder chipped our boy before we picked him up and he said not to put the Homeagain tag on the collar - that confused me at the time but didn't bother to follow up with a "why not." Now that he is registered with the database - I just wanted to see what you all thought about putting the tag on the collar. The only thing I could think of would be if the dog is stolen they would know he was chipped??
Some people have stated that you could transfer the chip # with it being on the collar like that...but I have not found transfering that easy. Rider's is on his collar....but I can see why many would not recommend putting it on. If the dog showed up at a shelter, they *should* automatically scan for it...which will give them HA # which will lead them to you.

I just ordered the tag because Oona's chip has moved down to her leg.
That's a great point - I hadn't thought of that and I wouldn't want to rely on someone being thorough with the scanner!
I have to mail the necessary paperwork and the $11 in to get mine ~ thanks for the reminder I need to do that this week.
