    DefaultBell training

For those of you who train your pup to ring a bell to be let out to potty...what kind of bells do you use? I am currently using those chirstmas bells but they are starting to make the paint chip off my door. Is there something different that anyone uses that will keep my door from getting ruined? Thanks!

I'm using the Christmas bells too...they're on my sliding glass door so I don't have to worry about the paint. I have seen some bells (around the holidays in Christmas stores) where the bells are attached to a leather strip so they lay flat against your door. I wish I could find them now though. I'd also be interest if anyone knew where I could find them.

I use bells that are on a leather strap -- think they are considered sleigh bells. I have one set on a sliding glass door, and another on a French door. It hasn't chipped the paint and I don't think it will. I bought mine at Total Crafts (kind of like a Michael's or Hobby Lobby), but it was in the fall (think Christmas). Not sure if they would be available out-of-season. You might want to check a Christmas shop or even a horse supply store.

Rocky doesn't think it's something to pick up and play with ?

I will get the office bell a try...I like the idea but something tells me my little rascal will just pick it up and play with it...haha

He used to at first, but it gave us an excuse to teach "leave it". He left it alone after a couple of days and never touches it now unless he needs to ring it to go out or he steps on it by accident.

Leave it a good one to teach...Buck knows it but he sometimes rather not obey! >

The sleigh bells sound like a good idea too...need to go bell shopping!
