Around what age have any of you with older labs started to keep your puppy out of the cage at night? I know its after he/she is housebroken, but Id like to know what age that any of you have had a good experience with?
Dama just started sleeping out of the crate this past week- she's 4 months old. She hasn't had an accident in the house for quite a while, and we keep her bed next to my sie of the bed and she's tethered to our bed on a 6 foot tether. She hasn't had any issues yet...
Ours was crated when we were at work, and during the night. But around 7 mos., we let him sleep in our bedroom on the floor, with the door shut, and he was fine. So we continued that, and started leaving him for short periods out of the crate (if we were away 1/2 hr., 1 hr.), and we did away with the crate completely at 9 mos. He's never destroyed anything in the house.
at around 4.5 months old.

Both Tucker and Frankie slept uncrated in our room since the first night they were home. Tucker was 12 weeks, Frankie 9 weeks. I put a gate up so they can't get out.

Once my pups were consistantly sleeping through the night, I let them sleep on a dog bed. That ranged from 8-11 wks here.
Thanks for all the input. I am just worried about him wondering through the night, but attaching him to a long cord is a really good suggestion. I have another dog that my lil one consistently playing with anytime he is out of his crate. Is it a good idea to wait until he is a bit calmer around him so he doesnt think its playtime all night or will he sleep? Suggestion please and thanks.
