DefaultHow do i make my lab stop biting me?

it's only when we're playing, and its not to bad. he usually he's trying to grab my clothes, which i would love for him to stop. but from time to time he grabs my hand or arm, it just touches the skin a bit, he lets go right away. but it still unpleasant since he has sharp though teeths.

    any advices?

    how old? practice "no bite".

change the tone of your voice to a serious one, and say NO BITE . often exchanging your leg or fingers for an appropriate toy. some pups take a bit longer to get it, but if they know you aren't playing…..they will get it.

I came across this blog post that had a chapter on puppy biting.

I think it's a good read. Hopefully it helps people down the road!

I think it is normal at least for a puppy, it needs time to learn. But if the adult dog did this, maybe some kind of different approach needs to be done.

while it might be normal , and he is playing, it's a good thing to stop it, and stop it now. a firm, NO, place in a sit , stay, and then after a moment, say NO BITE and continue playing with continuing the above type of command. labs in general dont BITE but you wouldnt want him or her to do it, and by accident nip hard enough to break skin. especially if it's not you, but someone else playing with him. like a kid you are teaching, be consistent and dont laugh even if he's acting goofy. good luck, come back and let us know as labs are so smart, i bet it wont take more than a couple of stern (even if make believe stern) reminders of how play is acceptable.
