DefaultIs this right? (choke chain question)

My trainer said the choke chain was to go on (my facing the dog) in the shape of a "P". Long line of the P on his right side when he is in the heel position. At our last class she said I had it on wrong, I still don't think I did, but now I'm paranoid and thinking maybe I'm dyslexic. So I took a picture this morning. When the chain is in this shape, I face him and put it on. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes. that is exactly right. When the dog heels to the left of you it has the quick release.

That's right. Also, the collar should be high on the dog's neck--right behind the ears. And the two rings should be behind the dog's right ear. Maybe you had the collar low on the dog's neck or two rings in the wrong position?

If your in doubt put it on your own wrist and pull on it. If it releases its right if it doesn't its wrong.

Think of it this way. When you're standing in heel position with the dog at your side, live ring (the ring the leash hooks to) should be coming off from behind his ears, that is from his left side toward his right. It should not be coming up from under his chin.
