    DefaultJoy ride to Hell

Never really had any problems with CARS and DOGS (until Moses)
    I know to..
-Sit in the car and get the dog comfortable first
-Maybe give a treat to get into the car
    - Make short happy trips to (parks or to see other dogs etc.)

Moses.. is now exactly 8 months old
He.. cry's, howls and whimpers. on car rides ( he can drive you nuts in the car) literally and figuratively
Then if we have to stop @ a light or something..and he sees somebody in the street or on the side he puts out a large bark that can scare
the living hell out of you when you are in the car .( i tell folks at work .. they laugh ..i would laugh too... if it wasn't happening to me)
After his ferocious BARK !!! he goes back to crying again
Reminds me @ times.. like the Lion in the "Wizard of OZ" ( i do.. i do.. i do.. believe in spooks)

Got Moses at 1 day shy of 9 weeks
had a 3 hour car ride on the way home when i picked the brat up.
He whimpered a bit on the way home.. the first month a little whimper here and there in the car..(nothing to get excited about)
Then once he turned 3 to 3.5 months the car nightmare started ...i also think it was the start of all my other problems with Moses

All my other dogs were my buddies .(.weather and temperature permitting) they went where i went
I really hate to take Moses anywhere ( it is the joy ride to hell)..
But he has to go to his training classes.. and i take him to park (even though there is a park in my back yard .....just to get him use to the car )
He is better in the car on the way home..then going (but still cries on the way home) .

    I tried to ..
    Comfort him in the car
    Radio on/ or Radio off
Singing (this does not sound good) ,, but helps the best ..not much help ,,but a wee bit
    Ignoring

Sometimes on a car ride.. i call some friends and family... so they can listen to Moses,, they all say (OMG) !!!!
Not making anything up here,,you won't believe it till you hear it

    Any suggestions..?

I currently do not use a safety /seat belt on Moses..He really does not move around in the car a lot
Do you think i should buy one..? or will it be something else he will fight me with ..?

How can i stop the ( cry's, howls and whimpers.) ?????

If he's crate trained, I would use a crate. All my dogs are more relaxed in their 'home away from home' (crate) no matter where we are.

    Thanks...for the feedback
I started to do some searches .
Looks like these work best with a hatchback
Right now I have a Honda Accord
Plan to stop @ Petco today ( it is hard to find someone @Petco that might know if a crate can work on a Accord)
Also just got the Accord last August,,(I keep my cars for years)..and I love the Accord.
Any suggestion what crate..will work on my accord..?

Didn't want to say anything last week
But it looks like things are a bit better
Moses had is first Doggie Day Car 3/22/14
When I picked him up. and he went in the car . he COLLASPED in the back seat.
Not a sound from him on the way home ..you would not even thing a dog was in the car.
Taking him to Doggie day care ( was the best thing I ever did) again plan to take him once a week.

Doggie day care also corrected other things too
Also noticed Moses is better on the mayor highways if car is going over 65 mph vs. side streets and city driving or where there are stops

Moses was to DDC today too..
And Yeap the collapsed in the car (not a sound)

So on a scale of 1 to 5
1 being a normal dag ..and 5 being (old Moses in the car)

    - Home from Doggie Care ..1

    -Traveling over 65 mph... 2

    - City driving 4 (but better then 5)

    - short trips to the park 3

    Not perfect but better..

Petco had no cage for a Honda Accord (would have tried one)
Petco suggested some (Calming Liquid)) ????? HAS ANY ONE EVER HEARD OF THIS..?

Good news is he is getting better (not perfect but better)thank u DDC

So glad to hear that things are improving, fingers crossed it only gets better for you. i found that honey is more keen to go in my boyfriends mum's car than mine, for 2 reasons, 1) in my car she's too big for the boot so she wears a harness and goes in the back, i don't think she likes that so much but she's accepted it now, and 2) my car only has her smell whereas the other car has kali's (my bf's mums dog) smell so i think she finds it comforting. But gradually honey went from crying the whole journey to settling down as soon as shes in.
