Hi. First some introductions. New here.
We have a 4 yo golden, Piper and an 8 week old lab, Toby. We got the lab one week ago. So far all the usual puppy stuff, nothing out of the ordinary. Golden and puppy seem to be getting along well. Lots of playing and hanging out together. I have been staying home since work has been slow. I did work Friday and he stayed in his crate with lunchtime potty break with my husband. He crates well at night, no accidents so far.
Today: I took the kids to school, Piper (golden) to the dog park for 15 minutes. Total time gone 1 hour. Piper needs to do what we usually do, and I figured puppy should get use to be alone. Came home to crate turned completely over, poop everywhere! Except on him for some reason.
Since we've been home he is his usual self. He had pooped last at bedtime last night and been up since 0545. He was tired.
I am assuming it was because everybody AND the dog was gone. But what can I do so he doesn't feel this way? Or can I?
He may have just had to potty and then upset because his sleeping area was soiled. Most puppies do need to go after eating breakfast and it may have just been too much time for him. I would not consider this seperation anxiety.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go - but learning to start over.
Wow - 8 weeks ? Don't expect too much just yet !
Just an accident I would say !
I don't think so. Post pics of your babies when you can please

8wks old I'd say just an accident. What do you mean the crate was turned completely over??
As Colin said, don't expect too much at this point. Accidents happen & puppies do puppy things, don't try to label logical events or behaviours.
