    DefaultWeight of 8week old puppy

Hi new to owning labs and new to the forum, obviously, I have had my lab puppy, Myla, for a week now and she is doing great as far as i can tell.

Her first vet check went well and she is due for her 2nd round of vaccinations on the first of august and is due to go to puppy school in 2 weeks. I have been looking up how much she should weigh i weighed her today and she weighs 3.7 kgs. She has gained a 1 kg since I have had her and both her parents appeared on the smaller side when i viewed them, not sure of their weight at all, they were just smaller than most others I have seen. Is this abnormally small or just on the smaller end of the scale?

photo of her day we got her, belly is bigger now (breeder didn't feed her pick up day) bag is 18kg bag of puppy food

    My original post said :

I'm new to owning a labrador and have had a puppy for a week now. Myla is now 8 weeks and 3 days old and weighs 3.7kg, it seems light compared to what i have researched. Everything else seems fine, eating well, stools are normal, vet check a week ago came up all good. Both her parents looked small to me compared to other labs i have seen but that was just by sight no idea what their weight was. My concern is she on the light end of the scale or is she abnormally light

8 pounds for an 8 week old lab puppy is on the small side. But the important part is that she is healthy and active not her weight compared to other dogs.

If parents were both small chances are the pups will be small (unless their lines carry some bigger dogs)

Maxx was almost 18 lbs when we picked him up at 8 weeks. I wouldn't worry about what she weighs now, others have had a puppy that was smaller at 8 weeks but still grew to an approximate normal Lab size. I would guess your puppy will be about the size of her parents when full grown.

Kai was 11 pounds at 8 weeks. While 8 pounds does seem small, it would make sense that she is on the smaller side if her parents are small. As long as she is healthy and gaining the appropriate amount of weight (usually about 2 lbs/week), then I wouldn't stress too much! Enjoy her!

Sophie was 16 lbs at 8 weeks. Our vet said labs are usually about 2 lbs per week of age. It can vary though. Some are just smaller. Sophie is 2 now and weighs 75 lbs.

Webster weighed in at 9 lbs at 8 weeks and he is now 65lbs and turned 1 on June 8th. He was a very very slow grower. I spent a lot of time worrying about his growth, then I realized he will eventually get to where he is supposed to be, and he did. It happens so fast so enjoy the puppyhood.

Welcome and she is a cutie. Ditto to the advise above, as long as she is gaining weight and is healthy is what's important
