    DefaultTomorrow!

After months of waiting, little eight week old Archie is coming home tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited.

Cats' claws are cut short, crate is ready, baby gates are up. We pick him up at 3 and should be back home by 530.

So, to all you seasoned puppy people, how should I plan that first night home? I figure feed at 7, which will be his regular dinner time, play some crate games, lots of tiring him out, and in the crate for bed by 11:30. I have the next 2 weeks off to spend with him but will be driving hubby to work every morning to get him used to going in the crate in the morning.

Any other advice? Anything else i should do on that first night home, or the first few days after? Any way to really capitalize on my vacation time home with him?

I think your plans are great! Making sure your puppy is tired, full and potty's before bed is the best way to get a good nights sleep or as few interruptions as possible! I also think keeping the crate in the bedroom, near you, to help puppy feel more secure and allow you to hear him makes a huge difference as well. Congrats on your new baby, I look forward to pictures!

So today's the day!!! I bet you are excited!! When I first brought Jack home, I gave him a large stuffed animal to sleep with. For cuddling purposes I also can't wait to see pictures!

Plan on getting up at least 2 times during the night and carry the puppy to where you want them to potty. They have difficulty walking with a full bladder at that age. I used to give an ice cube in the crate at night for water, so they couldn't drink too much. Enjoy your new bundle of joy!
