    Defaultbarking at 3 am

Hi there! Hartley is 15 weeks old and been with me 8 weks. Things have been going well. This week he stared barking at around 3 in the morning. Goes on for 10 to 15 minutes. I amk trying to ignore him so as noot to reinforce it. Just wondering what could be going on.

He started loosing teeth last weekend. I am wondering if his mouth starts bothering him at about that hour?

DJ is 5 months next week & wakes me at 3 every morning - it's time for a wee! I don't talk to him (or even look him in the eye) we just do what needs doing, a quick kiss & back to bed

Heck, this happens with my older ones still, from time to time, and they're 2 1/2 and 3! If they wake up in the middle of the night, it's urgent.

That would be a NO here. But... I have to say, my pups may still have access to the potty pellets at that point (it'd be on the line). If he has to go potty, I'd leave it at that. Potty opp, nothing more. Back to your crate so mom can sleep!

Do you live near a train line, airport or main road?

I live roughly 2km from the train line. The freight trains start going through from about 2AM after the passenger trains stop. There's one that starts Buzz barking @ about 2.30 - 3AM. Not every night thankfully but enough to let me know. I'm usually awake anyway so it didn't take long to work out what he was barking at. You can usually hear them for about 3-4 minutes depending on which way the wind is blowing.

Maybe your boy is hearing something similar?

At that age I would guess he has to go pee, but like Garth said maybe there is an environmental cause. A deer in the yard? (they can be remarkably predictable)....
