    DefaultPoop frequency

Hey there....just a quick question. Is one poop a day average for an 8 month old? Molly has been going every morning on our walk so no worries there. I did switch her from the food the shelter was feeding to a good brand so she has had some loose stools but that should pass shortly. She seems good on her rythym...I was just curious.

It depends on the food & the dog. My two usually poop once a day but on days they have trained & have more exercise they may go twice. A better quality food usually produces smaller stools and they may not poop several times a day.

Are you feeding once a day or twice?

My Chopper is like a machine when it comes to bathroom breaks.

Basically I put him on a schedule to perform his tasks and he learned within days. Dogs do not like to soil where they sleep so I utilized that. I would feed, play for ten fifteen minutes and put him back in the crate. Half an hour to an hour past I take him for a walk. As soon as he goes number I give him treat. Right afterwards number two I give him treat. Off home we go and some training with food. Quickly in his mind he knows what to do now I take him out within two minutes he goes number one number two and can't wait to go home for treats.

As far as food goes I used to feed blue buffalo large breed for puppies but chopper developed stomach issues. Recently we blend in nutro natural choice lamb and rice and working beautifully.

I have heard several members say that Blue Buffalo is very rich and has caused loose stools in their puppies. I have not fed BB, but it could be the cause of the loose and more frequent stools. It's something to think about...

Cassie is 9mo and she poops around 3-4 times a day.
In the morning she poops once and sometimes twice.
Then again in the afternoon and one time at night. But some times she doesn't poop at night so I figure that's why she poops twice in the morning.

If dogs do not go to heaven, then I prefer to follow them where they go.

At 13 weeks Molly poops 4 times (first thing in the morning, then mid-morning, again around lunch time, then after suppertime). She's on three meals per day, 8 oz per meal, raw food.

We will check with the vet tomorrow. I had a coupon for $15 off and I knew this food was better than a lot of others. I am learning just like Molly is learning! she only goes once a day same time every day.

Wow. That is a lot more than Molly. I think Molly is a bit skinny for her size and will be checking on that at the vet. I am wondering if she didn't get all the nutrition she needed and her body is now using everything she eats.
