    DefaultHow long to walk?

I could keep going until I have to carry him home but I know that's not a good idea. We usually go around the block - a 1/2 hour walk that gets puppy stretched to an hour - and that gives us a couple hours when he crashes when he gets in . Is there any recommended walking time or is "until they're ready to drop" acceptable?

Can't help ya out with this one...our vet told us due to cold weather Bailey shouldnt be out longer than 15 mins at a time. But s half hour walk for a puppy is great, how is he doing on the leash?

I am pretty sure the rule of thumb is 5 minutes of exercise per month of age. IE> 3 months old = 15 minutes of walking. Of course if the actual walk takes longer cuz puppy is stopping to check his pee mail, then whatever.
You probably don't want to tire him out until he's 'ready to drop' just cuz labs are such people pleasers they will go much longer than you think they can...
Did that make sense? Ughh... I'm doped up on Sudafed... :P

Interesting - I'll ask the vet on Monday and see what he/she says...

every vet is going to tell you something different ... I am a bit of a freak when it comes to disease prevention in the puppies I have my puppies don't get traditional street walks until they have had all boosters (or FOR SURE are a week past second boosters)
My puppies learn leash manners, walk on leash and off - they run and play at work and in the back yard

the 5 minute rule makes sense if street walks are in your plan
