    Defaultdiscovering her bark

Bailey has started barking at the gate to let us know she needs to go out to potty which is so great!! Only problem is now that she knows barking gets a response from us she is starting to bark at gate all the time. We take her out and she just plays in snow or picks up trash to play with (we live in apartment complex). It's great she's barking to let us know she has to potty, but now she uses it just because she can. We always take her out when she barks because we want to reinforce her pottying. Although she's barking quite a bit even when she doesn't need to go because She just went. Did anyone else experience anything similar?

How old is she? Toby rings the bell to go out and then barks if we don't move fast enough. I will say about 10% of the time he just wants to play, sniff and be silly outside

We want to teach her the bell but she doesn't have access to door yet, only a section of living room. She will be 14 weeks on Friday. She got very good at telling us she has to go potty. Now just over the weekend she's starting to bark more because she.knows well take her out. I don't know how to fix this?

I'm not sure how to change that, can you put a bell in the area she is in?

We could and we've talked about it but we think shell just wanna play with the bell. She loves to play with anything that dangles. We start puppy kindergarten on Saturday, hopefully they have an idea. But until then its going to be a long week!

Be glad you don't have a cat. All Spike does is bark when she's around! It's funny tho - if he hears another dog bark he will be like "HUH?" You can maybe try to tell her to shush with your finger over your lips and give her a treat when she quiets. Then she will get the idea just by seeing the hand signal. We go through alot of these - they're really small. http://www.cloudstar.com/8B85D0640D2...F4A63CD2FE24B3 (also available at the Cape Cod Dog

She's going to bark when you keep her apart from you and she is aware of your presence. Is she not housetrained adequately to give her more freedom?

It's hard because I don't wanna discourage her from barking to let us know she needs to go out. Idk what to do!

Big brown dog, she isn't barking when were apart and she is aware of our presence...that isn't what is going on. She has a big section of our apartment she is able to play in. When we are hanging out in our living room she will bark at gate to go potty, she is doing very well with potty training. However this weekend she figured out that everytime she barks she gets to go outside for potty time. Now she will bark simply to go outside even when she doesn't need to go. So its hard, she has us taking her out quite a lot. We take her because we don't want to discourage her to not bark when she has to go.
